Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day – 2025 Wave of Light Events

Overview:

This October 15, PAIL Network invites you, your family, and friends to join us for a beautiful commemorative event in honour of our babies called “The Wave of Light”.

Local PAIL Network Volunteers will be hosting events in several locations across Ontario on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 6:45 pm – 8:00 pm. People will gather between 6:45 pm – 7:00 pm, and the ceremony will begin promptly at 7pm. 

The ceremony includes a poem, and we offer space for each person to say their baby’s name or anything that feels significant for them. When they turn their candle on or light their candle, we move onto the next person. Once everyone has had an opportunity to honour their babies, volunteers will close out the ceremony with another reading. We welcome people to stay for the full hour and embrace the essence of the group, and also acknowledge that for some, they will leave when they feel ready and they may take their candle with them. The entire ceremony takes about 20 minutes. People are encouraged to bring their own memorial candle to light, and any mementos, stuffed animals, blankets, etc., that help them feel close and connected to their baby’s memory.  (Some indoor locations only allow flameless candles; these will be provided to those who do not have one). Thank you for sharing your babies with us.

If there is not a Wave of Light in your community this year, or you would prefer to honour your baby at home, there is an option to sign up for a virtual ceremony.  This ceremony is the same as the others shared at other in-person events across Ontario.
