Virtual Compassionate Care Workshop – August 7, 2020 – Association of Ryerson’s Midwifery Students
August 7 @ 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Description: Pregnancy and Infant Loss (PAIL) Network offers FREE Compassionate Care Workshops to health and service professionals who are either employed by a government funded organization or who are members of a licensed, regulated profession. This workshop is being offered to students in Ryerson’s Midwifery program, and (space permitting) students in a heath or community service field.
The workshop runs from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm with a 1-hour break from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm.
Participants leave with practical skills, tools and techniques to support bereaved parents and families. The workshop covers many topics including statistics, attachment, grief, memory making, what to say/what not to say, pregnancy after loss, caring for the caregiver, and family-centred care. We also invite a panel of people who have had a lived experience of loss answer questions and also share what it means to receive compassionate care.
Registration: This workshop is closed to Midwifery students at the host site. If space becomes available, a registration link will be posted 1-week away from the workshop.
