DESCRIPTION:Throughout the month of October\, various communities across Ontario are hosting flag raising events\, and signs\, buildings\, and monuments are being illuminated purple for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. If you visit any of these places and wish to share a photo and a message of acknowledgement\, hope\, and compassionate with others in the community\, feel free to tag @pailnetworkpage (Facebook) and @pailnetwork (Instagram). \nHere is a list of locations where flags are being raised for pail\, and where illuminations are taking place. If you know of any others\, or you wish to have PAIL Network submit a request on your behalf\, please email suzie.oregan@sunnybrook.ca. \nPAIL Awareness Day Flag Raising: \nBelleville: October 1 – 31 \nStratford: October 15 – 22 \nIlluminations on October 15 (unless otherwise stated)\n \nBelleville: The Belleville Sign\, Bridge Street Bridge\, and Fire Station #1 Memorial Garden will be lit blue and pink from October 5 – October 11. \nHamilton Sign: 30-minute rotation (between Purple and another awareness group’s colour) from dusk on October 15 until dawn on October 16. \nLondon: City of London will be lighting up City Hall and the J.A. Taylor Building on September 15th and 16th to commemorate this awareness day. \nOakville: The lighting is on an automated schedule\, so it will turn on 15 minutes before sunset and stay illuminated until 15 minutes after sunrise the following morning. \nStouffville: The Clock Tower will be lit Pink\, Blue\, and White for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day (requested by Oaks Tree of Love). \nToronto’s CN Tower: The lights turn on at sunset\, but typically aren’t visible for 30 minutes until the sky is dark enough. \nVaughan: City Hall will be lit Purple for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day.

Space is limited. \nRegister here: https://sunnybrook.formstack.com/forms/waveoflight_emilyshouse \nThis event will take place on Thursday\, October 15\, 2026 from 6:45 pm – 8:00 pm. People will gather between 6:45 pm – 7:00 pm\, and the ceremony will begin promptly at 7pm. \nThe ceremony includes a poem\, and we offer space for each person to say their baby’s name or anything that feels significant for them. When they turn their candle on or light their candle\, we move onto the next person. Once everyone has had an opportunity to honour their babies\, volunteers will close out the ceremony with another reading. We welcome people to stay for the full hour and embrace the essence of the group\, and also acknowledge that for some\, they will leave when they feel ready and they may take their candle with them.
