The below resources are intended for informational use only, and are not affiliated with or endorsed by Pregnancy and Infant Loss (PAIL) Network or Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC). Information in these resources does not replace medical advice. If you have medically related questions surrounding your loss or any feelings you may be experiencing, visit a healthcare provider or make an appointment with your family doctor if you have one. He/she can help answer any questions you have regarding physical or mental health.

Alberta Health Services Pregnancy and Infant Loss Program
Provides information, guidance, intervention and grief support to parents and family members who have experienced a pregnancy loss (miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, still birth, neonatal death or termination). Offers individual, couple, and group counselling.
Angel Whispers (Edmonton area)
Offers support and hosts groups for those who’ve experienced the loss of a baby and for those experiencing a subsequent pregnancy. Offers sessions devoted to creative healing through projects such as scrapbooking, memory books and steppingstones.
Briar Patch Center for Grieving Families (Edmonton Area)
Offers individual & family counseling and programs for children who are grieving. A program of the Pilgrims Hospice Society.
Caring Beyond (Calgary)
Offers peer support to parents who have lost a baby due to miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, neonatal death and termination due to poor prenatal diagnosis. Has regular support meetings and online support.
Grieving Parents Society (Edmonton)
Offers and peer support and support group for parents grieving the death of a child, regardless of age or circumstance.
H.E.A.R.T.S Baby Loss Support Program (Alberta & Saskatchewan)
Offers monthly support groups in through various chapters. a resource lending library, an annual Baby Steps Memorial Walk to Remember and an annual Candle Light Service. Support groups include a pregnancy after loss group.
Parent Care (Edmonton)
Support group made up of Parents Helping Parents who have suffered the loss of a baby through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or early infant death up to 28 days. Group meets monthly to share experiences, exchange information, and offer support. Any parent, family member or friend that has been touched by the loss of a baby is welcome.
Reproductive Mental Health Support Program
Provides support to women who are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress and/or grief related to reproductive issues. Short term individual, couple, and/or group support with a Mental Health Therapist or Psychologist at no charge.
Provides support to families, educates healthcare professionals as well as the public, and raises funds for SIDS research. Provides a 24 Hour Hotline for anyone who needs support at any time of the day.
Tiny Hands of Hope Society (Grande Prairie)
Non-profit organization built to help families touched by all types of infant loss, including pregnancy loss, neonatal loss, stillbirth, SIDs and infant death to age of 24 months. It is directed by a dedicated group of volunteers whose lives have been touched by the loss of a child.
BC Bereavement Helpline
Non-profit, free, confidential and anonymous service that connects the public to grief support services within the province of BC; including bereavement support groups, agencies, community events and other information.
BC Women’s Hospital– Pregnancy Loss (Vancouver)
Offers an in-person biweekly Perinatal Loss Support Group. Offers Short-term grief counselling to patients of the Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic and Recurrent Pregnancy Loss Clinic.
Hospice Perinatal Support Program (Abbotsford)
Offers a specialized grief support program for parents coping with the loss of an infant due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or within the first year of life. Clinical counsellors facilitate monthly support groups, and provide an opportunity for healing and to share loss.
Chilliwack Hospice (Chilliwack)
Pregnancy and Infant Loss Grief Support Groups for parents who have lost an infant to early or late miscarriage, stillbirth or within the first year of life. This group meets monthly.
Empty Cradle (New Westminster)
Peer support group offering friendship and understanding to parents who have experienced the loss of an infant or failed pregnancy. Goal is to provide support in a safe, caring environment.
Empty Arms Support Group (Victoria)
Support for families who have experienced a pregnancy or birth loss.
Family Services (Greater Vancouver)
Team of professional counsellors available to support families following a loss. Information on support groups and other support services in the greater Vancouver area.
Living with Loss Counselling Society of BC
A not-for-profit organization that provides professional grief counselling to adults and children who have experienced any type of loss. Subsidies for counselling are available.
The Compassionate Friends (Winnipeg)
An international, non-profit, non-denominational, self-help organization offering friendship, understanding, grief education and HOPE for the future to all families who are grieving the death of a child at any age from any cause including miscarriage, stillbirth, infant and adult.
Women’s Health Clinic (Winnipeg)
A feminist, community health clinic offering a range of services to women of all ages. Contact to find out what support services are available.
Bereaved Families of Cape Breton
Non-profit organization providing support to those who have experienced the death of a loved one. Support group for those who’ve lost a child.
IWK Health Centre – Pregnancy and Newborn Loss Support Group (Halifax)
Support for parents who have experienced a pregnancy loss or death of a newborn.
This site was created by a family whose son died. It is connected with The Hospital for Sick Children and has many resources and interactive areas for people who want to pay tribute to their loved ones, or who want to learn more about their grief.
Bereaved Families of Ontario
Helps families dealing with the death of any family member. Offers support groups for pregnancy & infant loss, for grieving siblings as well as offers memorial events, workshops, phone support and creative-expression workshops that facilitate mourning and memorialization.
Late Loss Support Group at North York General Hospital
The Late Loss Support Group will give you the opportunity to share your experiences with other women who have experienced a recent (within the past year) late pregnancy loss or neonatal death. Late pregnancy loss is defined as 20+ weeks and includes a still birth or loss due to incompatibility with life. The support group meets on Wednesday mornings from 10 to 11: 30 a.m. at North York General Hospital, 4001 Leslie St., Toronto. Referrals/self-referrals required.
Mount Sinai Hospital Late Loss Late Loss Bereavement Support Group
Weekly support group for women who have experienced a recent (within the past year) late pregnancy loss, including spontaneous loss and loss due to incompatibility with life. Women who have experienced neonatal death are also eligible to attend. Facilitated by a psychiatrist & social worker.
Perinatal Loss Support at Roger Neilson House
Roger Neilson House is a pediatric palliative care hospice located in Ottawa Ontario that provides individual counselling and weekly support group for parents who have experienced a late pregnancy loss. The Perinatal Loss Parent Bereavement Support Group is available to any parent who has lost an infant over 20 weeks gestation up to the first 28 days of life, including stillbirth, neonatal death, pregnancy interruption and/or induction where a palliative diagnosis existed for the child. The group is held weekly over the course of eight sessions. Facilitated by perinatal social worker and nurse.

Quebec Association for Parents Living with Perinatal Mourning
Support for those who’ve lost a child in pregnancy, childbirth or in the first year of life. Offers in person meetings, online and phone support, activities and events.

American Pregnancy Association
Non-profit society offering education, support, advocacy and awareness for pregnancy related issues. Has a toll-free help line to assist those facing pregnancy issues, including pregnancy and infant loss.
Bereaved Parents of the USA
U.S. non-profit (with chapters) founded by bereaved parents. Offers support, understanding, compassion and hope to bereaved parents, grandparents or siblings.
The Centering Corporation (USA)
Non-profit organization provides education and resources for the bereaved. Offers a list of suggested resources specific to the death of an infant or child, and publishes the Grief Digest, a quarterly magazine supporting grieving people and caregivers.
Compassionate Friends (International)
Provides comfort, hope, and support to every family member experiencing the death of a loved one, and helps others assist the grieving family. Online support and communities available.
The COPE Foundation
New York based non-profit grief and healing organization dedicated to helping parents and families living with the loss of a child. Lots of online resources and programs available including grief support line and online support.
International Stillbirth Alliance
Brings together member organizations and individual supports working towards stillbirth prevention and improvement of bereavement care worldwide. Hosts an annual, international conference.
MISS Foundation (USA)
International volunteer-based organization founded by Dr. Joanne Cacciatore that helps families who have had a stillbirth or early infant death through counseling, advocacy, research, and education services including camp for grieving kids, newsletters and their website.
Miscarriage Matters, Inc
Non-profit organization that runs a web-based community to offer global support to the survivors of miscarriage, stillbirth and early infant loss via live online chat and peer mentors for both women and men.
Postpartum Support International
Support, education, advocacy and research for people living with infant loss, grief, and mental illness. Lots of online information and support.
Pregnancy Loss Support Program (USA)
Provides free nationwide telephone counseling by trained peer volunteers as well as New York City based support groups for couples who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth and newborn death.
Resolve Through Sharing (USA)
Offers grief support materials and industry-leading perinatal, neonatal, paediatric, and adult death bereavement training to healthcare professionals globally, to help them provide outstanding family-centered care to patients and families experiencing loss through dying and death.

SHARE Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support (USA)
Pregnancy & infant loss support community serving those whose lives are touched by the tragic death of a baby through early pregnancy loss, stillbirth or in the first few months of life. National organization has over 75 chapters in 29 states. They offer free baby loss grief packets, a support website, chat room, grief information and many resources to newly bereaved families as well as caregivers.
Solace for Mothers (International)
Support for women who have experienced traumatic childbirth, including the death of a baby, and are struggling with PTSD and anxiety caused by their birthing experiences. Offers online discussion board for parents and healthcare providers.
Star Legacy Foundation (USA)
Non-profit focussing on stillbirth prevention, education, research, support, awareness and advocacy for better care available to families and heath care providers. Collaborates with other organizations extensively on projects.

USA-based organization that offers three different services for bereaved families: a pen pal program, a private online support group, and customizable individual support in person, online, by email or over the phone.
Grieving Dads Project
Project designed to reach out to all bereaved dads and provide a conduit to share their stories. It’s goal is to bring awareness to the impacts that child loss has on fathers and to let society know that it’s okay for a father to grieve the loss of a child.

Headquartered in Kansas City, MO, Still Birthday connects parents with professionally trained Stillbirthday Birth and Bereavement Doulas to offer emotional and physical support prior to, during and after the birth of a miscarried or stillborn baby. Facing a fatal diagnosis
A Heartbreaking Choice
This website supports women who have made the heartbreaking choice to terminate a much wanted pregnancy due to a poor prenatal diagnosis, problems with their own health or for the health of another fetus (selective reduction). The site also offers a private, membership-only discussion and support group.
Macie Grace Foundation (USA)
Created by parents whose baby died from Trisomy 13, they offer support via email or over the phone to parents anticipating the birth of a critically ill baby or parents who have a critically ill baby in the NICU.
Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep
Organization offers free remembrance photography to parents suffering the loss of a baby.
Perinatal ComfortCare (USA)
Program designed for parents who have received a devastating prenatal diagnosis of “incompatible with life” and choose to continue the pregnancy. Program offers guidance by a perinatal nurse navigator, who has experience in obstetrics and provides clear and relevant information focusing on the needs of you and your baby.
Perinatal Hospice and Palliative Care (USA)
Helps prepare families who know their baby will die. This group provides guidance in creating birth plans, plans for living fully with the baby prior to delivery, and care for baby while dying and afterwards. USA based, but offers support internationally.
Project Sweet Peas (USA)
Non-profit organization coordinated by volunteers who provide support to families of premature or sick infants and to those who have been affected by pregnancy and infant loss.
Non-profit organization that provides international support for women and their families experiencing complicated pregnancies and premature births. They believe families can cope more successfully with a high-risk pregnancy with appropriate medical intervention, education and a strong support system.
Loss of multiples
Multiple Births Canada – Loss Support Network
Offers support to parents and families who have lost one, more, or all of their multiple birth children. Suggested reading lists, online resources and a “forever angels” newsletter.
CLIMB Centre for Loss in Multiple Births
International non-profit organization developed to connect parents who’ve experienced the death of one or more of their twins or higher multiples at any time, from conception through birth, infancy and childhood.
Community for twinless twins. Provides support for twins and other multiples who have lost their twin due to death or estrangement at any age.
Baby’s Breath Canada
Canada’s only national foundation focused on SIDS, also dedicated to reducing all sudden and unexpected infant deaths including stillbirths. Offers research, advocacy and a peer-to-peer bereavement support network.
CJ First Candle (USA)
Organization focusing on reducing the rates of SIDS, SUID and stillbirth, as well as supporting those who have experienced a loss through advocacy, education and research. Publications and newsletters. Support includes peer services and a grief support line.
American SIDS Institute
Dedicated to the prevention of sudden infant death and the promotion of infant health through an aggressive, comprehensive nationwide program of research, clinical services, education and support.
PALS Pregnancy After Loss Support
Community support resource for women experiencing the confusing and conflicting emotions of grief mixed with joy during the journey through pregnancy after loss.
Subsequent Pregnancy Program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre
Sunnybrook’s subsequent pregnancy program cares for women who are experiencing a pregnancy after a previous late-pregnancy loss or death of their baby during pregnancy (greater than 15 weeks), or women who have had a baby die shortly after birth (neonatal death). Women have access to a team of healthcare professionals who provide expert clinical care with sensitivity and continuity.

Elizabeth Ministry International (USA)
Elizabeth Ministry is an international minister offering many different services to help the Christian community. Services include: education/resources for churches/community, remembrance workshops, letters of encouragement.
Nechama Comfort (USA)
Jewish non-profit organization that’s dedicated to helping all families who have experienced infant or pregnancy loss. Services include crisis intervention, support groups, guidance for clergy and medical personnel, Jewish burial support, and community awareness.
